About passports and money/valuables of yours

About passports

It is essential that you (non-Thai) are required to carry your passport with you all the time while you stay in Thailand.
However, it is recommended that you bring the copy of your passport so you don't lose the passport while trekking in case you want to leave your passport to safekeeping like safety boxes.
NB: Parts you need to copy from your passport are, pages with your picture, disembarkation card (stamp) to Thailand and so on.

money/valuables
Our trekking tours include meals, and it is not necessary to bring lots of cash with you since we will not take you to shops that sell expensive souvenirs or jewelry during our tours. In addition, it is recommended you not carry cash more than necessary during tours so you can minimize the risk that you encounter troubles. For your info, it is kindly suggested to bring sufficient amounts of small cash as 20 bahts bills if necessary. (Small villages in the mountain areas might not have charges for large bills.)
During tours, we kindly advise that you take care of your belongings such as your passport, money or valuables.

In addition, we kindly recommend that you obtain "a short-term" travelers insurance policy before your departure.

About packing

We recommend that you not carry a bunch of stuff, but as little and as possible, no heavy stuff, if it is a long distance trip.
" There is an option that you can buy a porter service from Hilltribes unless you can carry your stuff by yourself. We can arrange the services from the charge of 200 bahts.
" We can also arrange an assistant guide in addition to a regular guide upon your request.
" We provide short term storage services for you unless you carry all of your luggage with you during your trip.
" We also provide small backpack services, limited number of them though.
Please feel free to ask us for further information and their prices.

About cold protection

It becomes very cold during winter seasons (December through February), and we strongly recommend you take care of yourself with your own cold protection while your host villages prepare blankets or sleeping bags for you. We still suggest that you bring several thin clothes instead of one thick clothing, so you sleep warm at night.

From our past experience, we have warmed up our customers by keeping a bonfire all through the night while they slept in sleeping bags with four or five of blankets.
